General Secretary Election

 

branch-squareUNISON’s election for its General Secretary is about to start. The ballot begins on 28 October and closes at 5pm on Friday 27 November 2020.  You will receive your ballot  paper through the post to your home address. If you have not receive a ballot paper by 10 November 2020, please contact the ballot hotline via UNISON Direct on 0800 0 857 857. The result of this election will be announced on 11 January 2021.

Each UNISON branch is allowed up to a 100 word address to members explaining why they have nominated a particular candidate. Our 100 word address is below, explaining why we have nominated Hugo Pierre.

Our UNISON Branch has nominated Hugo Pierre as a candidate to stand in this election because Hugo wants our union to change into a fighting, democratic trade union prepared to meet the attacks on jobs and services.

  • National Action to fight Council cuts
  • £15 an hour minimum wage
  • End privatisation and bring services back in-house including schools and private social care
  • Labour Councils to set no cuts budgets
  • No UNISON funding of politicians who make cuts
  • Election of UNISON Assistant General Secretaries and Regional Secretaries
  • Branches to have the full right to campaign
