UNISON Courses
Nottingham City Branch is excited to be part of the new UNISON Notts Learning project, which brings together branches across the county, to help provide our members with more learning opportunities than ever.
Throughout this uncertain period UNISON has expanded its learning offer and has run a huge number of free online courses for members. However, our 'Notts Learning' team has had to cancel a lots of face-to-face courses that were due to run across Notts (Project Management, Spanish, Kayaking, Pet First Aid, Website Design, Understanding Depression etc) which has been really disappointing.
We are pleased to say that we are now looking to kickstart learning in Nottinghamshire and want to make you aware of the free online courses taking place this Autumn for members in the county. As you will see from clicking on the link below this includes:
• Bereavement Support - Designed in response to Covid-19 and a recognition of the roles UNISON members are doing supporting the public
• Working With Cancer - Provided by Maggies Cancer Support charity this is for anyone affected by Cancer and how it impacts on working
• Finding Your New Normal - Provided by mental health specialists Nottingham Recovery College this 8 hour course provides ideas, advice and tips to cope with 'the new normal' we are all facing
• Menopause Awareness - Session led by a menopause specialist
In addition we are offering all members an opportunity to undertake a free online maths and English assessment in partnership with Nottingham College. This takes just 15-20 minutes and will be followed by individual, confidential, impartial and unbiased feedback from Chris Donkin a functional skills facilitator. There will be the chance for those who want the opportunity to engage in further learning to participate in a short on-line functional skills course to potentially acquire functional skills qualification in Maths or English. This opportunity may be of great interest to those wishing to acquire a level 2 qualification in Maths and/or English. Check the flyer for details.
We hope that the Notts Learning courses will expand as we reach 2021 but please keep checking for courses organised by UNISON region and UNISON national on Facebook. Just search 'UNISON East Midlands Education & Training'.
